We connect volunteers with
communities in Nicaragua that need English to support their community tourism programmes.
Our
goal: poverty reduction through education and employment. How?
The
students you teach become English speaking guides and community teachers. The communities
you live in develop sustainable
tourism projects. Education leads to increased skills and better job prospects. Volunteers to teach English needed for March 2008 onwards and also now to teach computer skills. A special experience awaits.

January Forty two students start computer classes in El Cebollal using 4 computers powered by solar panels; 10 enrol in an English class. both are taught by one of the project's 'students'. The NEST Trust is a dream coming true. The first part of the dream began in 2002 with volunteers teaching English for tourism with UCA Miraflor, near Esteli in the northern mountains. In 2007 a second part took shape when volunteers began teaching in other communities using the specific English for Community and Rural Tourism materials that the NEST Trust has compiled and printed, and a third part is that our students are also becoming teachers. Over and above the core activity of teaching English for community and rural tourism, there is a range of spin off activities including scholarships, solar powered computers and computer skills classes. These are mainly thanks to the relationships established between communities and volunteers. Find out about the communities looking for volunteers. Apply now to volunteer.
